Shaun by the Sea Art Trail
Our 'little Shaun' has arrived and we cannot wait to get started in bringing him to life. Check our diary below for updates!
What is the Shaun by the Sea Art Trail?
The 'Shaun by the Sea Art Trail' is run in partnership with Wild in Art, a leading producer of spectacular public art events and creative projects which enrich, entertain, inform and connect communities - giving people of all ages a voice through art, in support of the Martlets.
Who are Martlets?
Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton & Hove, and surrounding areas. Our expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.
How can I get involved?
We are fundraising for the Martlets and you can donate now via our JustGiving page. We will also be hosting events throughout the year, to raise money and bring our school community together... watch this space!
Join the baa-rilliant art trail featuring much-loved children’s character Shaun the Sheep and his friends. Visit over 40 individually designed sculptures displayed around Brighton & Hove’s streets, parks and other public areas between 9 September – 5 November 2023.
Shaun and his friends are a group of unique characters who flock together for fun and adventure. Brighton & Hove is a vibrant and eclectic city and Shaun by the Sea will help celebrate individuality and diversity, while also highlighting the importance of coming together as one supportive community.

Help wanted!
We would like to incorporate our school logo and a gold '50' somewhere in our Shaun the Sheep design, to mark the school's 50th anniversary which we will be celebrating next academic year. We have created a mock up of the image but we are not graphic designers! If any of our families have the skills to be able to help with a more refined design, we would be most grateful! Please contact the School Office - office@stanford-inf.brighton-hove.sch.uk. Thank you.
UPDATE: Thank you to those who submitted a logo, the School Council have selected one for our Shaun sculpture. We loved them all so much that we will be incorporating them throughout the school and correspondence next academic year, to celebrate our 50th year.

A surprise guest!
Miss Moulson introduced Shaun to the children in assembly. We thought about charity, what it is and why it is important, as well as learning all about the Martlets and the Shaun by the Sea Trail!
Monday 5th June
Miss Parker and Miss Whittington were hard and work on the INSET day getting started on the design for our Shaun. Looking good so far!
Thursday 22nd June
We held a Coffee Morning in the playground to raise funds for the Martlets and it was the first time children and families got to see our finished Shaun! There was a suggestion box for names and the children enjoyed submitting their ideas.
Shaun is finished! He had a great time posing for some photographs outside in the sunny playground and is now getting ready to hibernate before being out on display for all to see!
Saturday 9th September
Shaun was revealed to be located at the Booth Museum - not far from his home! He was visited by some familiar faces.
Thursday 28th September
Fatboy Slim invited us along to his 'Bleat, Sleep, Graze, Repeat!' fundraising walk to cheer him on. We walked up to Dyke Road Park Cafe where we saw a 'big Shaun' outside named 'Masquerade'. Sadly, we did not get to see Fatboy Slim even after an hour of waiting! On our way back to school, we stopped in at the Booth Museum to visit our very own 'Sir Stan Ford-Sheepington the 50th'.
Friday 10th November
Today, we dressed as sheep to celebrate the end of the 'Shaun by the Sea' Art Trail. The children and staff looked baa-rilliant!
