Forest School

We are delighted to begin our Forest School adventure – this page is currently being updated!

Year 1 classes enjoyed fabulous Forest School activities last term and Reception are beginning their adventure now!

All classes access the area on a weekly basis too.

Here is the timetable for the Autumn Term:

Forest School is a child-centred, inspirational learning process and encourages play, exploration and supported risk taking. It aims to develop confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. Each class will access the Forest School once per week with one class, starting with the Reception classes; will have approx. six consecutive sessions, per half term.

Forest School is run by Mrs Frier, alongside the Class Teacher and Teaching Assistant, and Outdoor Learning is run by Miss Bower with the support of a Teaching Assistant.

Some activities the children will engage in are… building bug hotels, building dens, creating mazes, potato peeling whittling and campfire cooking – we will be setting up a Forest School Page on our website; therefore, hope to provide more information soon!

In time, we hope that we can involve our families even more with Forest School, as we know many of you are keen to get involved.

Children will need to wear clothing that is both appropriate for the weather and for exploring the woodland. As we already have a relaxed uniform, not much needs to change, as long as they have full-length trousers/jogging bottoms/leggings and a sweatshirt/jumper or fleece on. They will need a warm coat, ideally waterproof with a hood, gloves and woolly hat. Finally, they need boots/trainers or wellies with warm socks!
